New starting point for energy conservation, low-carbon towards the future | The 2026 National Energy Conservation Promotion Week is scheduled to be held from June 15th to 21st

On May 20th, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the "Notice on Carrying out the 2026 National Energy Conservation Promotion Week and National Low Carbon Day Activities" (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"). The Notice specifies that this year's National Energy Conservation Promotion Week will be held from June 15th to 21st, with the theme of "New Starting Point for Energy Conservation, Low Carbon Towards the Future". The National Low Carbon Day will be held on June 17th, with the theme of "Green Transformation for All". During the National Energy Conservation Promotion Week, various forms and rich content of publicity and education activities will be actively carried out to strengthen the promotion and popularization of concepts such as ecological priority, conservation and intensification, green and low-carbon development, and continuously enhance the awareness and ability of the whole society to save energy and reduce carbon emissions. Relevant departments and units will focus on the new situation, new tasks, and new requirements of fully implementing the dual control system for carbon emissions during the 15th Five Year Plan period. They will organize and carry out special publicity activities on energy conservation and carbon reduction in key industries, energy efficiency improvement in the industrial sector, energy conservation and carbon reduction in the construction sector, green and low-carbon transformation in transportation, construction of conservation oriented institutions, regulations and standards for energy conservation and carbon reduction, and popularization of green and low-carbon knowledge. On National Low Carbon Day, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with relevant departments and units, will carry out an "online+offline" publicity campaign around the theme of addressing climate change as the main content, deeply promote the concept of low-carbon development, popularize knowledge of addressing climate change, enhance public awareness of low-carbon, and work together to promote carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion, and growth. The Notice requires that the leading departments of energy-saving publicity weeks and low-carbon days in various regions should effectively strengthen overall coordination, and work together with the co organizers and units to organize energy-saving publicity weeks and low-carbon days in their respective regions. We should enrich the forms of publicity, flexibly adopt a combination of online and offline methods, actively carry out publicity activities such as promoting advanced experience in energy conservation and carbon reduction, popularizing knowledge of energy conservation and carbon reduction, guiding green consumption, and promoting green and low-carbon travel, and mobilize all sectors of society to participate widely in the Energy Conservation Promotion Week and Low Carbon Day activities.
